Sources to buy Good Quality Wholesale Merchandise to Resell

Merchandise Sources
for:

Retail Stores, Swapmeet & Flea Market and Business Owners

A lot of businesses have been started from the owner selling first at a swap meet or flea market and then moving up into a store location. You can make a full time living, selling at swapmeets, on the weekends, if you have plenty of items to sell. Most swapmeets charge you a certain amount of money, for each parking space that you take.
You take all your supplies with you, and set everything up, and sell your items until the end of the day, when you take it back down, and wait to do it again. The best thing about a swapmeet business, is, that there is generally a lot of foot traffic, and you will have a large customer base to show your wares to.
Later, there is a list of companies that have great items, that most people can start out selling at swapmeets, and flea markets. There are thousands of companies that sell all the items you see at any swapmeet in America. Tto get the widest taste, of all these companies, it would be good to attend a trade show, in Las Vegas, or Atlantic City, twice a year for the big ASD/AMD trade shows. To attend, you usually need business credentials, like a business card, resell permit, or business license, to get registered.
The big trade shows, have over 3,000 companies that attend to sell, and over 50,000 store owners, and swapmeet vendors, go their, to buy new items, from all over the world. The list below, is just a taste of some of the companies, but, they are all respectable companies, in their selling fields.

On the average, the items you see at a .99 cent or Dollar Store, would net the owner 40 cents profit on every dollar item sold on average, so if a store does $1,000 a day for 30 days, they would gross $30,000 and the net before all expenses would be $12,000. A lot of dollar stores started out selling at swap meets, especially in the Southern California area, dollar stores are about on every corner these days. They still have name brands with good values. Some of the bigger chains of dollar stores are traded on the stock market, so it is very much big business now.

About the Author: Vince Stead started working at an early age in life. As a child, his father owned a string of bakeries, and Vince's job in elementary school was to put filling and icing on top of all of donuts for all his dads bakeries on the weekends. As a teenager he worked in a restaurant and grocery store. Vince always had side jobs selling or doing some sort of service for folks in his neighborhood like mowing the lawn, or shoveling snow. Right out of high school he joined the Navy and also dabbled in business while also taking some college course while in the Navy. Vince has traveled to 13 countries and was able to travel around the world in 1986, by way of a Navy destroyer and Air Force cargo planes. After leaving the Navy, Vince did many of the ideas in this book here, lots of them as a matter of fact.

After seeing a man in San Diego selling everything at an outdoor swapmeet for everything for $1. He decided he wanted to have a booth like that because the mans line was so long with paying customers. Vince opened the first .99 cent store in North County in 1990 in Oceanside, California. He eventually opened another one in Escondido, California. While running his two stores, Vince set up a warehouse in Oceanside, California for extra storage for his stores and to also started to wholesale his products to other stores in California and other states. Eventually dollar stores popped up on almost every corner, and the internet was just becoming of age to the average home owner. Vince sold full time on all the auction sites when he first got his first computer, eventually going to just his own website and advertising it in magazines and on the internet to get wholesale customers to visit his site at bargainpricewholesale.com that is still open today.

Vince has been self-employed ever since being a teenager, and now he is in his 40's. His father was self employed for over 55 years in various businesses, and most of his 7 brothers and sisters have all owned their own business at one time or another. Today Vince still runs the website, he has authored several books and raises mastiff dogs, and likes to get away to their weekend home that is 2 hours away and relax when time permits!

Start your own Knife Sharpening Service

Knife Sharpening Service

You can start your own business, and work for yourself, as a knife sharpening service business, and do it from almost anywhere. There are lots of types of sharp items, that needed to be sharpened on a regular basis, to keep them working properly. Some things that need to be sharped might include items like Kitchen knives, lawn mower blades, hedge clippers, scissors, axes, chisels, saws, pocket knives, swords, and more.
If you have a grinder, and can sharpen sharp items to the customers satisfaction, then you can make money sharpening knives and more for customers. You can contact home improvement stores, hardware stores, sporting goods stores, pharmacy and gift stores, etc.. and ask them if you can set up a booth, and banner, inside, or in front of their store, to get customers for free. The store owner will like the idea, because it does not cost them anything, and they will get extra customers from the extra foot traffic your knife sharpening service business, will bring in. You can give a discount if they bring more than one item to sharpen.
You could contact local stores and set up a program where their customers can drop off items to be sharpened, and once a week you come in, and sharpened everything that needs to be sharped, and you both, split the profit, and you could have your own route set up.

You can start your own Typing Service Business

You can start your own typing service, and it's not that hard to learn how to type, if you don't know how, you can easily go to your local library and check out items their. The Navy used to teach it's typing personnel how to type by watching a movie in the dark. You can start your own typing service business and make money supplying a service others might need you do. People might have all kinds of things that need to be typed up, reports, books, letters, wills, etc...and don't know how to type, or don’t have the time or desire. A typing service could include more than just basic typing.
If you have a little bit of computer experience knowledge, you could include graphics from the internet, you could type up menus for restaurants, delis, coffee shops, etc…You could type up your own flier, and pass it out to coffee houses, college campuses, high schools, book clubs, etc...You could have a nice sign made up and put on your car, telling about your typing service. You can also start your own transcribing and court transcript typing service, as lots of local governments now hire out their typing service sometimes.

You can also get most all of my books as digital downloads for only $2.99!

Start your own Portable Bathroom Service Business

Portable Bathroom Service

You can start your own business, and work for yourself, with your own, unique, portable bathroom service. Now, don't laugh, but somebody is going to make money with them, it might as well be you, don't you think? If you could build a better mouse trap, so to speak, you could really market the portable bathroom business service. How many times have you been to a picnic, fair, outdoor event, construction site, park, sporting event, etc... and have had to use one of those plastic, portable, public bathrooms, that are common almost everywhere.
Usually they are pretty nasty and narly inside, if you ever have the bad experience of having to use one! You could start you own business, and make much better bathrooms for customers, you could hit it big maybe. You could start with ordinary portable bathrooms, you can buy, and haul on a trailer, and rent them out yourself, and manage them. But what if you built a better one, one that you could charge $1, or $2 or more, to use. Someone would pay that, if they knew the inside was much cleaner, private, safe, and more luxurious inside.
If your bathroom had granite counter tops, porcelain bowls, tile surround sound, and new and updated features, and room for several "clients" at a time, somebody for sure would want to use your portable toilet. If you could build the ultimate bathroom, and monitor it, even with a tuxedo on, when you wait on customers, would be pretty eye catchy, to say the least. Customers would pay, just to see what you have done inside, to your mobile bathroom.
You could arrange to be at countless activities, where your service would just knock the socks off, of everyone else’s bathrooms. You could also rent your portable bathroom out, to events like rodeos, car shows, flea markets, etc... on a event basis, making it accessible to everyone, for the whole event. you can advertise, and get other contracts for your portable bathrooms, while you're "busy" getting new clients. If you can use your imagination, and build something, you would not mind your own family using, and it would be top of the line, you could have a fun and unique business experience.

Start your own Mobile Oil Change Business

Mobile Oil Change

You can start your own business working for yourself, offering to simply change the oil in peoples autos for them. You can set up a system where you can remind previous customers that it is time for an oil change, and they can call you anytime. everyone wants an oil change, but occasionally people are to busy, or just plain forget to get it done. Most cars and trucks need their oil changed every 3,000 miles.
You could make up a flyer that says you come by every 2 weeks or so, and that you will change the oil in any of the cars in the parking lot, for such and such a price, that you want to charge them for your service. You could easily have regular customers who would come to rely on your services on a regular basis. You could go to office buildings, industrial centers, factories, and more, that have big parking lots, and lots of workers inside. You could offer to change the oil in all cars for a certain price, you would only need to bring the oil and tools with you, and buy the oil filters close by.
People would find your service to be great, and then each day you could service a different section of town. You would only need to change the oil in several cars each day to make good money. You could make up a flyer, saying how much you charge, for oil changes, and notifying them that you will be around all the time, on a regular basis. This system will make you get more customers than if you just try to do spot oil changes all over town. You will get a lot of repeat business, and then you can grow your business with helpers who go out and change the oil for you in cars.

Start your own Window Washing Service

Window Washing Service
You can start your own window washing service and be in business for yourself pretty easy, and with very little expense for materials to start out and get going. These days, with the many types of new fold up ladders, you can virtually fit a tall ladder, into almost any little car. It's always nice to have a professional looking vehicle, if you can afford it, with nice signs, with your name and contact information on it. You can work up to that, after you have a few jobs under your belt, and you want to look even more professional.
You can check out other window washing services in your area, to get a feel for what prices they charging, and what all they do for that price. Call several of them, to get a really good feel for what the average rate is, as you will see high and low prices. You can make up fliers and have a special price for new customers with your flyer, and then pass them out to a neighborhood one at a time, and the phone will start to ring later.
Make sure you do the best job you can do, and be very curtious, as this kind of business is a repeat customer business, because eventually theirwindows will get dirty again later, and you want them to call you back. They will also tell several family members, and friends, about you, if you do an excellent job. You could also make up a small flier and put it inside a sandwich bag, with a few stones or pebbles, and slow drive around and toss them into each driveway you drive by to get immediate calls and get your business up and running, and then later you can advertise in newspapers and other places.

Start your own Handyman Service Business

. Handyman Service

You can start your own handyman service business and work for yourself, and work when and where you want to work. if you’re an average, or above average "do it yourself" type of person, when it comes to working on homes. If you have the basic knowledge of understanding how plumbing, electricity, construction, landscaping, roofing and general homes repairs are supposed to be done, then you can start your own handyman service business. If you’re the "Do It Yourself" type individual, you might like being in business being a handyman.
Even if you don't know the basics about simple home repairs, like changing a toilet, water heater, sink, or faucet. Or, just replacing a bad sprinkler head, or underground water line break, or a home that is in need of a paint job, or just an old front porch, that needs to be fixed back up to new.
You can learn lots of things quickly, if you go to any home improvement store, book store, or local library and read some of their "how to books". You can find so many things on how to fix stuff around the house. Most fix it yourself type jobs, are standard procedure, when it comes to fixing them with directions from a book. Each job will be a little bit different, and you surely don't want the customer to see you reading a book, that would be embarrassing!
For example: If you replace a broken water heater in one house, you can do another house just about the same. It will be pretty much the same, but not exactly the same, but after you do it once, you should have a knack for it. If you have the basic knowledge, for understanding how a water heater works, and where the water lines should be hooked up to, and if it's either, gas or electric, and you can hook the water heater up with no problems, I'm sure you can do almost any hot water heater replacement job.
As a handyman, you don't need to be an expert in everything. For example: you might know how to change a light fixture, and run new outlets to a new place you want to be able to plug in electricity, but you might want to leave the more complicated stuff, like circuit breakers and other dangerous jobs, to the electrician experts. As long as you are honest with all home owners, when they show you something that needs to be fixed, you can be honest and let them know if you can do it, or if you can't. You are a handyman, that means you can tackle most all, regular jobs, that need to be done. You don't have to be an expert in everything, and rebuild them a new house from scratch either, to succeed.
Lot's of homeowners are just to busy, or don't know how to do basic home repairs themselfs. Most people call someone to come and fix something when it breaks, and they just want it fixed. so they can get back to their lives. You can offer your services to many customers. You can make up a flier, and put it in places where people 55 and over usually live and socialize, they are good candidates for home repairs, and handyman service. You should be fair in your pricing, do not take advantage of older people. When you find a complex, like a mobile home park for example, that requires everyone to be 55 or over to liver there. In California, there are all kinds of places you have to be 55 or older to liver there, mobile home parks, and more.
If you start working in one of those types of places where mostly senior citizens are, and do a good job for them, at a competitive price, you can get a lot of jobs and make everyone happy. Most of these senior citizens have already retired, and they are home most of the day. They take walks thru their neighborhoods, and when they see a truck working on something, they usually stop and notice it, because they are not in a hurry any more, and they have the time to talk and chat. If your around, they will walk over up to you usually and say hi, and talk to you. Later, they will ask you to fix something for them, since they have seen you around already and have spoken to you also already. So be really good with older folks, and you could turn your handyman business into a nice living. You should also have nice signs on your vehicle to get extra jobs. You can advertise in small newspapers, and make up some fliers and put them all over neighborhoods.
To get business quickly, you can make up your flier, put it inside small clear sandwich baggies, include a few stones or pebble for weight, and include your flyer. You can drive around the neighborhoods you would like to work in, and slowly drive around and toss each flyer into all the driveways as you drive around slowly. You will get calls quickly for work, when you do this system.

Mobile Home Painting "Mobile Homes & Trailers"

You can be in business for yourself part time or full time with this business. You can go to mobile home and trailer parks and specialize in the painting of mobile homes and trailers in the parks. You can get a lot or work if you target mobile home parks, they are full of mobile homes that need painting. If you drive thru one, and look at some of the homes in mobile home parks, you will notice lots of them need to be painted. Most of them are made out of metal, and it gets pretty hot compared to wood.
You would also be surprised to know that, there are probably a lot more mobile home parks in your area, than you really think there is. If you do a search on the internet for mobile home parks, in your area, a lot should pop up on your search. A lot of mobile home parks these days are for people 55 years old, or older. I found that when I was painting in a mobile home park with senior citizens 55 and older, that when I was out painting, a lot of folks would go for walks thru their mobile home parks, and come by and see me painting. They would ask me for an estimate on their mobile home, and the word of mouth advertising just took off.
You will have plenty of work painting, when you make up a flyer, and give one to each person you. You could also send out your flyer to mobile home dealers, mobile home sellers, mobile home and trailer maintenance supply places, mobile home movers, since all of these people are essentially in the mobile home business. They will be the ones asked by mobile home owners, or buyers, if they know anyone who paints mobile homes, and they can give them your number. It is also good to send each manager of the mobile home parks one of your flyers, so they can post it on their bulletin boards, usually in the laundry rooms, or recreation rooms so the tenants can see what’s going on.
Always make sure you mail out a new batch of flyers on a regular basis, so people in the mobile home business will remember your name and number, and eventually send you more business. Later on, you can have others painting for you, while you drive around and check on their work. Mobile homes can be painted by 1 person in 2 to 3 days, so you could really get a lot of work lined up.
